CHP Process Engineer

 

Shotton Mill Limited – Flintshire

 

An exciting opportunity exists to join Eren Shotton Mill’s Project Team as a CHP Process Engineer.

 

You will be a key member of the projects in a newly established team and be part of the team responsible for the installation, commissioning and start-up of a brand new state of the art CHP with Gas Turbine and Heat Recovery Steam Generator technology. The CHP plant is being built as part of a wider repurposing project that will see the construction of the UKs largest containerboard machine and tissue machines on site at Shotton Mill Limited.

 

Following completion of the project, you will support the team of operators & staff responsible for the daily operation of the CHP plant, including planning and scheduling work, lead technical problem solving, monitoring performance, analyse performance data and trends, conduct training & optimising plant output, whilst ensuring health and safety standards and regulations are adhered to.

 

This position is located in Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales.

You will be responsible for:

Understanding and leadership with Shotton Mill health and safety rules, regulations, policies and practices and ensuring these are adhered to at all times.

Supporting with managing and coordinating site works during construction phase.

Supporting with reporting site progress to project management.

Supporting with Managing commissioning and startup of the plant.

Supporting in ensuring budgets and resources, including the procurement of materials and equipment, and the coordination of maintenance and repair work are aligned to site procedures.

Responsibility of critical plant including but not exclusive to:

Gas Turbines

Heat Recovery Steam Generators

Gas Fired Boilers

Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment Plant

Condensate Handling

Heat Recovery and Exchanger Systems

Emission Monitoring Systems

Ability to lead and participate in problem solving practices with operational area teams and assist in developing and implanting suitable solutions. This will include a knowledge and application of Route Cause Analysis (R.C.A.) techniques.

Proficient in IT systems and using trending software to analyse data and make decisions.

Able to coach, train and develop operatives in the operational processes and procedures.

Self-driven, flexible approach, demonstrating continuously high standard of work.

Good knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and able to apply to their area of responsibility.

Effective team player with excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Flexibility to deliver key milestones such as annual shutdowns, operational targets.

Updates process and quality data and compiles and distributes reports, as aligned to mill strategic objectives.

Supports the optimising of fixed and variable costs in line with strategic targets.

All work must comply with current company policies and current legislation.

Conducts self in a manner that reflects agreed behaviours and standards.

Working Conditions

You will work on-site within the project team within a major construction site with the ability to travel within UK and overseas as required.

Skills and Qualifications

Education to BEng, BSc level is preferable.

IOSH, NEBOSH are desirable, not essential

3 years work in energy/manufacturing/engineering environment

Previous experience as a Process Engineer, preference in Energy or Manufacturing sector.

Previous experience of working on gas technology is preferable.

Knowledge and Experience

Previous experience of engineer or management role of CHP technology is essential.

Industrial facility installation experience is a plus.

Willing to embrace change and challenge processes to improve the efficiency and the effectiveness of the site/company.

Able to self-manage workloads and priorities.

Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Commitment to achieve the highest standards of work at all times.

Support and take full ownership of tasks through to conclusion.
