HSQ Manager

We have been instructed to find a HSQ Manager for our Client based in Carrington.  SAICA Paper are a market leading container board manufacturer, and we are looking for a HSQ Manager to come in and continue their journey towards world class.


As the HSQ Manager, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and advising on all activities related to occupational risk prevention, plant and equipment protection, and quality assurance.

Your primary responsibilities include:

Ensure the fulfilment of company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), and Quality policies.

Facilitate compliance with Food Safety, Health and Safety, and Quality regulations through site line management.

Act as a liaison with Group Environment and Quality/Health and Safety management, implementing Group Guidelines and procedures.

Keep management informed of legal obligations relevant to Paper UK, as applicable to this role.

Collaborate in defining SAICA Paper UK annual EHSQ performance indicators and objectives.

Work with the SAICA Paper UK Leadership Team to align Health & Safety and Quality operations with overall performance targets.

Arrange internal audits of management systems to ISO9001 and Saica H&S Framework, working with the Environmental Manager on joint ISO9001/14001 audits.

Maintain external certifications (ISO 9001, 14001) jointly with the Environmental Manager.

Manage the Paper UK EHSQ legal compliance process, coordinating audits and reporting results to Paper UK Management.

Ensure ongoing competence of site emergency response teams.

Act as the primary contact with regulators and stakeholders, such as company insurers and HSE.

Own the site Safe Systems of Work procedure and associated software for managing risk assessments and permits.

Act as the Contractor owner for Security operations on-site.

Deputize for the Environmental Manager during periods of absence to ensure environmental reporting requirements are met.

Perform other duties as reasonably required from time to time.


Academic Qualifications: University degree in a technical or scientific area (engineering, chemistry, physics, etc.).

Professional Experience: Experience in production environments in a similar post, with experience in the Paper Industry being advantageous.

NEBOSH Diploma: Advantageous.
