The role: Stock Preparation Process Engineer

Job Description:

– Ensure fulfilment of company Health and Safety policy in the whole mill, leading it in his/her area of

responsibility.

– Comply with Group quality and environment policies in his/her area of responsibility.

– Responsible of the day to day of the stock preparation

– Monitor and study all of the information generated in the production area under process engineer

responsibility in order to lead, manage and implement improvements that guarantee the optimum

performance of the area in order to achieve main SAICA Paper target

– Effluent treatment plant Area Responsible deputy

– Main link of production team with logistics team at RPY

Main Responsibilities (this is not an exhaustive list):

Health & Safety:

 Follow the site H&S procedures, practices and propose improvements.

 Report any problems and issues immediately following site procedures.

 Promote site H&S standards and challenge where necessary.

 Actively encourage safe working practices amongst the people working in PM-11 issuing regularly Red-Yellow- Green cards , Safety walks, Morning meetings H&S feedback, Daily H&S surveys information

 Support the Production Manager leading on his/her area of responsibility the housekeeping activities in a daily

basis. Set up the standards of housekeeping in his area of responsibility and ensure they are maintained leading

it from the front.

 Lead H&S investigations as required. Complete those investigations and the actions in a reasonable amount of time: maximum site allowance is 2 investigations opened at the end of each month.

 Undertake allocated H&S actions.

 Day work, shut down Q4 and Isolation administration.

Environmental:

 Follow the site environmental procedures, practices and propose improvements.

 Report any problems and issues immediately following site procedures.

 Ensure the correct sorting of waste generated in the area he is responsible for and during interventions carried out under his/her supervision in any other area.

Quality:

 Suggest innovations to ensure customer satisfaction is guaranteed.

 Continuous improvement/lean approach to internal processes to improve outgoing quality.

 Lead and/or participate in teams investigating RCA that occur, identifying opportunities for improvements in

installations and/or procedures and putting into practice the actions that are defined.

 Analyze and record the production losses that occur in the production due to his/her area of responsibility.

Decide on the corrective actions to be taken and identify opportunities for improvement to avoid they would be

Specific tasks: (This list is not exhaustive)

 Support Production manager in ensuring that the KPIs for safety, environment, quality and production are met, and help to manage the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the production area. Supporting the production manager in setting standards and best practices in the production area to meet these targets.

 Coordinate and prioritize all corrective, preventative & predictive maintenance day work activities in the production area through the Q4 EPTW system. Coordinate with electrical and mechanical maintenance planners and ensure that all necessary permits are issued and in place to allow efficient use of maintenance day work time.

 Coordinate and prioritize all corrective, preventative & predictive maintenance shut work activities in the production area through the Q4 EPTW system. Coordinate with electrical and mechanical maintenance planners and ensure that all necessary permits are issued and in place to allow efficient use of maintenance shut down time.

 Support the Production Manager in planning the jobs to be carried out during the annual maintenance shutdown, identifying the ones to be carried out in the area by production (including outsourced jobs as industrial cleaning companies), mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance and technical office.

 Lead the mapping of all the activities carried out by production crew under the production area and jobs under process engineer supervision to ensure they are all Risk Assessed with a proper SOPs to comply with HSE regulations. Ensure they are available and updated in WIS.

 Follow up all TPM activities for the stock preparation area. Provide technical leaderships for operators within the stock preparation area.

 Test and follow up consumables in the stock preparation area (baskets, ropes for ragger, cleaners,…)

 Drive and Coordinate together with technical office installation of small modifications

 Suggest to Production Manager different projects for the area to be included in the annual CAPEX plan. Erect, commission and start-up the CAPEX investments that he/she has been assigned, keeping within the budget limits.

 Provide cover for the ETP Area responsible position where required

 Be available from Monday to Thursdays at any time for any support shift crew may need when you are not

on holidays.

 Participate in the Production Area On Call Rota.

Academic qualifications  Relevant Degree (e.g. Chemical Engineering) BSC (MSc Optional) or studying towards such a qualification/ relevant long term experience

Professional experience  At least 3 year experience in Process Industry essential / Paper industry

Specific training: (detailed in specialised functions)

 Detailed on SP process engineer training plan

Q.S.E. knowledge/training  Relevant H&S training desirable
